Sloan Sterling's triumph at the 2024 MIKA Junior Briggs Championship is the culmination of a journey fueled by passion, persistence, and support from the Journie Driving Academy. Selected as one of three drivers for the academy, Sloan gained support and mentorship from the Chip Ganassi team, enabling her to participate in more races and grow as a competitor.
The Journie Driving Academy, launched by Journie Rewards, is focused on making motorsports accessible for underrepresented drivers. And for Sloan, it has opened opportunities and doors for her driving career. The program has given Sloan and her fellow drivers a sneak peek into a professional racing career through the exposure of the Indy Car series, representing a junior racing team, and all the mentorship these young drivers undergo.
With Sloan’s 2024 year soon wrapping up, her goal is to move up to the senior driving division. Excited to learn from tenured drivers, Sloan stated “I want to chase the competition not the trophies.”
Sloan's journey has been powered by her team, PRO (Professional Racing Ontario), and programs that help young drivers succeed both on and off the track. After finishing third in the 2023 championship, she surged to victory in 2024, proving that passion can power a winning journey. With this championship in hand, Sloan Sterling is well on her way to a bright future in racing.
